HollandBlaze Shimmyfest Memorial

We are hosting a shimmyfest memorial on September 6th and 7th in memory of Momma T. a.k.a. Terry. Terry was a force, and she left a huge mark on the belly dance world. We lost such a brilliant dancer, and the community mourns. We want to mourn but also celebrate her life and celebrate this dance form. Terry instilled so much in so many of us. She taught all of us something. I know for a fact that Terry would want us to party like we've never partied before!

We have rented a location at: 1018 N 2nd St, Rogers, AR 72756 Rogers, Arkansas. It is a 2800 sq foot warehouse building. There are 15 parking spots up front with all being reserved for handicap, our guest of honor and our teachers. There are a BUNCH of parking spots behind the building. Please park in the back unless you have a handicap tag, please park up front in spots that are labeled if you are one of the people mentioned above!

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 6:

The celebrations will begin on Friday evening, with doors opening at 5:30pm. Ticket price is $20 and if paid prior to August 23rd by 5 p.m., you will receive a FREE Shimmyfest T-shirt! Colors available for t-shirt: black, red, deep teal,  royal purple, royal blue or dark gray. The price will be $20 at the door but will NOT include the free t-shirt if paying after August 23rd. This event will be a big potluck/hafla. Open dancing, talking, laughing, crying - all of it will happen! The party of all parties!  We plan on having the Terry look alike contest -- Friday night it will be ALL about Terry & Blaze (Tina) Shenanigans. Tina danced with Terry for years and passed away before Terry. They are dancing in heaven together. This will be the night we cut loose, dance, eat and have a celebration! We will have a sign up sheet for some dancers to teach their favorite moves within a 5 minute time slot. We will have a sign up sheet for dancers to perform. Sign ups for Friday night will happen AT the event and will be first come first serve! Slots will be limited! 
Please bring something to share with everyone - cookies, veggies, fruit, dips, chips. etc.  Shimmyfest memorial will be providing water and soda pop for free. We will be very thankful for monetary donations towards the soda pop & water!

Lena will be providing WATERMELON on both days, home grown and delicious.

SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 7:

Vendors & Volunteers arrive: 8 am
Doors open to dancers: 8:30 am
Dance workshop begins: 9:00 am
Dance workshop ends: 11 am
Lunch: 11am to 12 pm
Lunch on your own or purchase from food vendor:
Uncle Dandy's Hot dog Stand (please let me know if you need a vegetarian hot dog)
Dance workshop begins: 12 pm
Dance workshop ends: 2 pm
Beginner belly dance class: 2pm - 3pm
Room flip: 3 pm to 4pm (please volunteer - if you can)

SATURDAY NIGHT, SEPTEMBER 7:

Shimmyfest Memorial begins: 6:00 pm
Eulogy, Bible Verses, song, Terry slideshow, 6 formal speeches (if you want to be a part of the formal speech, please reach out to Lena)
Memorial ends: 6:45 pm

Shimmyfest Memorial show Begins: 7 pm
(20 performances, must sign up in advance! 5 minutes or less time spot!)
15 minute intermission
Shimmyfest Memorial show Ends: 9pm
Teardown, stay if able to volunteer: 9pm to 10pm
AFTER SHIMMYFEST party - tradition by Terry - must find a place to go afterwards!

LAY-AWAY!
We are cool with doing a lay-away! We know there's not much time between now and September 7, 2024. We know the economy is crazy and we really want to do this event and do it RIGHT for Momma T!  We can do the Saturday $75 workshops in 2 payments ($38 & $37) or the Fri Night + All 3 Saturday workshops for $100, 2 payments ($50 & $50). Paying your $50 payment prior to Aug 23rd will ensure you receive your t-shirt! You have all the way until September 5th to pay your lay-away in full! YOU decide when to make the payments. We won't be able to remind you so please put a reminder in your phone calendar so you can make your payment. We will keep records but we have a lot to prepare for and sending out reminders is going to be tough, please help us out by putting it in your calendar! Thank you so much!! Have questions? FREE gift bag to first 20 dancers to sign up for Saturday classes. Whether you sign up for 1, 2 or 3 classes, if you pay in advance and you are one of the first 20, you will receive a free gift bag at the door. This includes lay-away payments! If you are one of the 1st 20 to make a payment, you will be on the list for the gift bag as long as you are paid in full on September 5th. 

If you are unable to pay on September 5th and have to pay at the door, we are charging an extra $10 bucks, we just need to get those payments in prior to the event in order to pay for the venue and other expenses! Thanks for your understanding, we appreciate it!!

Beginner Bellydance Class 
(2pm to 3pm class only) Have you always wanted to try out belly dance? This 1 hour class is perfect for those that have never tried belly dance, have tried it a few times, are curious to see what it is about, advanced but want to see how someone else teachers... this will be a great class to try out for $12 bucks advance or $15 at the door!

Terry's belongings will be there for sale. All of her belly dance treasures from 1975 to present. The proceeds will go to her husband Dan for funeral & living expenses. We will also have a raffle or 2 going with Terry's items so you can have a chance to win something for $1.

This is a CASH & VENMO sale. If you do not have venmo, please set it up so you can use your credit card.
Items will range from $1 toa few hundred bucks! Everything from little dance items to full costumes!
Want to vend? You may! Bring your own table. Please take up 6 feet of space, we DO NOT have tables to rent out. We are asking for a $10 donation for vending fee. You may set up on Fri and Saturday.. You may sell used & new items, please keep items 75% belly dance! 

 

Tickets are NON-REFUNDABLE. They are transferrable but we cannot refund!
